Some GOOD News!!

The WPJA (Wedding Photojournalist Association) & Brides.com teamed up to offer a competition for WPJA members. Each member was allowed to enter 10 images in 2006 within ten different categories. I was thrilled to learn I placed two of the ten images I submitted!!
Tenth Place :: Bride & Groom Judges Comments: 'This image perfectly captures the subtlety of capturing emotion at the right moment. You really feel the emotion of the couple in their embrace.'
'Very emotional. Love that the figures are off-centered. Pretty light and composition.'

I was excited when I saw that one of my images was selected but I was shocked when I saw a second image was chosen from Keith & Julie's wedding.
Judges Comments: 'The composition of this photo is amazing. The richness in color of the fabrics frames the white of the bride's dress and the black of the boy's suit. His eye contact is direct and draws the viewer in. The placement of the women's arms shows a sense of ease and friendship even though you cannot see their expressions.'

'While most portraits would focus on the bride and her party, this picture tells the story of a colorful Indian wedding by making the young, tuxedoed ring bearer, the star. The tight crop illustrates the merging of the two cultures, with family members in saris and the bride in her white dress.'

In other GREAT news...
In addition to this exciting honor, my husband made it through surgery on Tuesday & is expected to regain full range of movement in his right arm. He began physical therapy today & they took off his splint. Because of the nature of the broken bones, he won't need a cast on either arm!
